2011 Tornado Damage
The severe weather of 2011 includes one of the worst tornado seasons in memory. By mid-June, the number of tornados in middle America had reached 1,475, wiping out entire communities, resulting in well over 500 fatalities.
In May 2011, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas were ravaged by violent thunderstorms and tornados only a couple days after a tornado tore through southwest Missouri. Communities in Texas, Kentucky, Alabama, Massachusetts and Minnesota have also been destroyed by the monstrous thunderstorms. Homes and businesses have been completely destroyed, trees were splintered and cars were swept from the highways.
Tornado damage often causes the total loss of a home and the property inside it. Insurance companies that are operating in bad faith will often deny full replacement value, even when the policy clearly covers tornado, windstorm, hail and other severe weather damage. Having your home or business destroyed is devastating enough. You should not have to deal with confusing paperwork and dishonest insurance companies.
If you are having trouble with your tornado claim, please contact Mr. Malley for help. He will deal with the insurance company and make sure you get the compensation you need to rebuild your life.
Bad Faith Tactics
The reason that many insurance companies act in bad faith following disasters of this magnitude is that they are often overextended by the extent of the damages. Unscrupulous companies will seek to protect their profit margins at the expense of living up to their obligations. Examples of bad faith practices include:
- Denials of a valid claim
- Unreasonable delays in the processing of a claim
- Failure to promptly pay claims
- Unreasonable delays in the investigation of a claim, or failure to investigate
- Offering settlements that are a fraction of the true value of the claim
